چکیده

Background: Since there is not a definite cause for Kienbock's diseases despite appropriate knowledge of lunate bone blood supply, so great debate about the ideal treatment protocol diseases. Objective: The aim this study to assess outcome combining distal capitate shortening and fusion base third metacarpal disease (Lichtman stage II or IIIA) with neutral ulna variance. Methods: Twenty patients 20 consecutive disease, their age mean was 26.1(SD 5.6) y. Patients were evaluated radiologically clinically including pre- post-operatively pain, (ROM) grip strength. Functional evaluation carried out using (MMWS). Results: final post-operative (MMWS) showed increasing from 17 (SD 2.5) 88.5 (SD7.3). Conclusion: technique capito-metacarpal yielded satisfactory results especially II, than in IIIA.

Distal capitate shortening with capitometacarpal fusion for management of the early stages of Kienböck’s disease with neutral ulnar variance: case series

BACKGROUND The aim of surgical management of Kienböck's disease has been proposed to slow the progressive osteonecrosis and secondary carpal damage. The aim of this case series was to evaluate the results of a new technique, combining distal capitate shortening with capitometacarpal fusion for the treatment of Kienböck's disease (Lichtman stage II or stage IIIA) in neutral ulnar variance patien...

Ulna shortening osteotomy using a compression device.

PURPOSE To report the functional and radiographic outcomes of a cohort of patients treated for ulnar impaction syndrome with a single technique of ulnar shortening osteotomy. METHOD We performed ulnar shortening osteotomy on 18 consecutive patients over a 10-year period by using an oblique osteotomy and compression plating technique with an AO compression device (Synthes, Paoli, PA). There we...

Distal ulna hook plate fixation for unstable distal ulna fracture associated with distal radius fracture.

The significance of distal ulna fractures is often undermined, which can result in inadequate treatment compared with fractures of the radius, the ulna's larger counterpart. However, little guidance exists in the current literature on how to manage distal ulna head or neck fractures and intra-articular ulna head fractures. Therefore, the purpose of this retrospective study was to evaluate the o...

The treatment of isolated fractures of the distal ulna.

The integrity of the periosteum and the interosseous membrane determine the stability of fractures of the distal ulna; this is indicated by the initial displacement. In fractures displaced by less than 50% the periosteum and interosseous membranes are largely intact; these fractures are stable and require only below-elbow immobilisation for protection and relief of pain. In fractures displaced ...

Spinal Shortening for Recurrent Tethered Cord Syndrome via a Lateral Retropleural Approach: A Novel Operative Technique

Spine shortening via vertebral osteotomy (SSVO) for recurrent tethered cord syndrome (TCS) is a novel surgical technique that avoids the complication profile associated with revision detethering. While SSVO has previously been described via a posterior approach, we describe a lateral retropleural approach for SSVO in recurrent TCS in a 21-year-old female. Our patient presented with progressive ...
